Foundations of Poetry

Evoke the music in language, and the magic of metaphor.
Unveil the beauty of the everyday, and the textures of the soul.

COMING JULY 2026

“There is not a particle of life
which does not bear poetry within it.”

—Gustave Flaubert

Poetry makes meaning
from the everyday stuff of life,
and connects us to others,
ourselves and the world.

Is this for me?

An ideal creative writing course for…

  • first-time poets wanting a solid grounding in the creative, practical and technical aspects of prosody

  • any writer wanting to stabilise their writing routine with a creative flow best suited to their body and lifestyle

  • seasoned poets returning from a creative hiatus, and wanting to recover their artistic instincts

  • anyone looking to hone their cognitive abilities, or deepen their spiritual connection to creative practice

Your poem. Your muse.

Beginner or expert. Literary or genre. Casual or pro.

This course is for you.

What you learn

A holistic grounding in writing poetry

Voice & perspective

Language is music, and poetry its greatest symphony. Rediscover words as notes, and grammar as heartbeat.

Rhythm, metre & sound

Words are as much a collective currency, as an intimate treasure. Unlock the empathy to give language to the world from fresh points of view.

Metaphor & imagery

See the world with a poet’s eye, awakening to the depth of small moments, and the hidden bonds between all things.

Does meaning have a shape?
How does a blank page become a creature of beauty?

Master stanza-building and prosodic sequencing, drawing on a vast archive of poetic traditions.
